In brief
Complete removal covers the agreed route through the home and above the roof. Structural interaction, roof closure, waste removal and repairs are assessed for each floor.

Understand the chimney's full route
A chimney may change direction, contain several flues or adjoin a neighbouring property. Photographs of each floor and existing drawings are useful. We identify the elements included in your enquiry. A basement section, foundation remnant or shared flue is not automatically included in the phrase 'complete removal'.
Coordinate assessments and permissions
Before work starts, it must be clear whether structural assessment or material testing is needed. Neighbours, the owner or a Dutch owners' association (VvE) may also be involved. A demolition notification is separate from any permit requirement. The overall project determines the checks required, not just the final section of masonry.
Plan removal and repairs together
We discuss how roof work, internal work and waste removal will be organised. This includes protecting the property and agreeing access to rooms. The proposed repairs are described for each building element: roof, floors, walls and ceilings. This makes clear where the contracted work ends and further finishing begins.
A quotation for the whole situation
The chimney's size alone does not establish the total cost. Storeys, access, structural measures, material testing and finishing all matter. Send your plans and overview photographs, and let us know whether other contractors will be working at the same time. Hidden defects may require further inspection before they can be assessed.
Frequently asked questions
Can a shared chimney be removed completely?
Not without assessment and the necessary agreements with other parties. Shared structures may serve other users or cross ownership boundaries, limiting the scope of removal.
Is a photograph of the roof enough for an enquiry?
It is a useful starting point, but a full assessment also needs details of the internal route, affected floors and required repairs.
